Other memorable dishes include a big salad of baby arugula, slivered endive, transparent slices of apple and pear, sugared walnuts and brisk lemon dressing; that tagliatelle bolognese, which we had enjoyed on our first visit; a special risotto rife with shrimp and scallops, delicate strands of Parmesan rising with each forkful; and the aforementioned rabbit al forno. The crusty Portuguese bread is ideal for mopping up anything left on your plate.
Desserts are made on the premises and charming in their simplicity.
The excellent flan was caramelly through and through; chocolate mousse, with a modest rosette of whipped cream, was just what it should be; and molotoff, a huge slice of wobbling Portuguese meringue drizzled with caramel and showered with almonds, was dessert enough for three.
